Junior dos Santos' Greatest Hits

Life doesn’t get any stranger than this.

How can they call a guy who beats the living out of others for a living Junior?

Seriously. Junior is typically a scrawny little dude whose focus is something like computer software or applied force physics. But MMA? Uh, not normally.

But Mr. Junior dos Santos is anything but normal. He's 6 feet 4 and 240 pounds of bone-crushing muscle. In the following story, you'll read about his greatest hits and then, thanks to our massive intimidation abilities, we coerced him into answering 26 questions.

And you thought Junior was tough. (Just kidding Mr. dos Santos). — Editor

FIVE
WHAT UFC 95
WHEN February 2009
OPPONENT Stefan Struve

THE FIGHT In 2009, a blistering fast 54-second knockout for Junior dos Santos was a great way to start off the year. JDS came out firing against the lanky and talented Struve and was able to muster up the big knockout within the first minute of action. JDS fired off around 15 powerful punches in the span of seven seconds and dropped the big-man twice before the ref jumped in to stop the bout.

FOUR
WHAT UFC 117
WHEN August 2010
OPPONENT Roy Nelson

THE FIGHT "Big Country" Roy Nelson proved to have one tremendous chin in this fight, and Junior dos Santos was using Nelson as target practice for some venomous punches for 15 minutes. It was rather shocking that Nelson absorbed three rounds of vicious striking from dos Santos. It was a tremendous win for JDS despite not getting the finish. In the process, it was a moral victory for Nelson.

Q and A with Junior

What is life like in Bahia?
I moved to Bahia seven years ago, and I fell in love with Salvador the first day I arrived.

When you got the call to go into the UFC, what did you think?
That is a dream of all fighters, including me.

Did you feel you were ready?
I am always confident and thought that it was a great opportunity that I couldn't let escape.

Why is Minotauro your hero?
I started to train after watching his fights. When I had the opportunity to meet him, I realized he was a very modest man and very talented and at the same time. I thought, "I want to be a champion like him!"
