HUNTINGTON BEACH, California — Tito Ortiz, a former UFC light-heavyweight champion, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of domestic violence, police said.
At 9:53 a.m. April 26, Huntington Beach police officers responded to a report of domestic violence in the 16700 block of Baruna Lane, said Lt. Russell Reinhart of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
"After an investigation, officers arrested Jacob "Tito" Christopher Ortiz, a 35-year-old male, at the location," he said.
Ortiz was booked in the Huntington Beach city jail for domestic violence charges and bail was set at $25,000, said Reinhart. After Ortiz was booked, he posted bail and was released from custody.
The police department will not be releasing any booking photos or 911 tapes of the incident nor will the police department release any information about the victim or the victim’s injuries, said Reinhart.
Ortiz, a former UFC light-heavyweight champ, last fought for the UFC on Nov. 21, 2009 when he lost a split decision to Forrest Griffin.
Neither Ortiz nor his attorney have responded to requests for an interview.
