Fedor, With His Winning Percentage of 97, Remains the World’s Top Heavyweight

MMA-1008-UPPER-01-copy2_small No. 1 Fedor Emelianenko
Record: 31-1-1 (no contest)
Winning Percentage: 97
Notes: As the most dominant fighter in his division, “The Last Emperor” is not only considered the best heavyweight but possibly the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today.

No. 2 Brock Lesnar
Record: 4-1
Winning Percentage: 80
Notes: The big man dispatched Randy Couture via TKO at UFC 91 and pounded Frank Mir at UFC 98. He has recovered sufficiently from his intestinal disorder to defend his title against Shane Carwin, who is the interim champ.

No. 3 Shane Carwin
Record: 12-0
Winning Percentage: 100
Notes: Carwin’s brief career has been impressive. He has scored four submissions, and he has eight KOs/TKOs with his first-round KO of Frank Mir at UFC 111. If that’s not outstanding enough, all of these victories have come within the first round. Having won the interim championship, Carwin now looks forward to challenge Lesnar for his title.

No. 4 Frank Mir
Record: 13-5
Winning Percentage: 73
Notes: Going into UFC 111 against Shane Carwin for the interim championship, Mir’s confidence was at an all-time high after his 72-second submission of Cheick Kongo at UFC 107. However, Carwin proved that he’s for real with his first-round KO.

No. 5 Cain Velasquez
Record: 8-0
Winning Percentage: 100
Notes: Adding to his list of TKOs, Velasquez stopped Ben Rothwell in Round 2 at UFC 104 and then did the unthinkable by stopping “Minotauro” Nogueira in the first round of their UFC 110 get together.
